Scilly Stout, Penzance’s Brewing Co’s 7% ABV dark and delicious treat, was named beer of the festival at Tewkesbury CAMRA’s winter event last month, and today the certificate was handed over to brewer Pete Elvin at his Star Inn, Crowlas.
Making the presentation on behalf of Tewkesbury CAMRA was member Gareth Hill, on holiday in Cornwall with his wife.
The festival award is decided by a vote of drinkers, and Scilly Stout was a very clear winner, said Gareth.
The very deep red, practically black stout has a huge list of ingredients, include Crsytal, pale and black malts, torrefied flake barley and Soveriegn, Northdown, Fuggles and Amarillo hops. It’s left in cask for three months before it goes out to the drinking public.
